Hi Jen,
Thank you for writing back. When I first started writing for AC then I use to get offers of $10 to $14. I noticed the offers started to slowly get lower. I think I'm going to quit writing for AC after I get the gift certificate for this month unless things change around there. Leah is also my favorite editor. I notice she isn't in charge of the dating and relationships topic anymore.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi ElizaJane,
Thank you for the suggestion. I will have to try CC. I will let you know if I sell any articles on CC. Thank you for responding. I hope you have a Wonderful Day!

Now they have the Worst Date Ever contest.

You know what they're doing? They're getting all this free content because you have to submit it for non-pay. All they have to do is reward the winner and they probably get out a lot cheaper by not having to buy dating/relationship stories---which are hot topics these days.

They are slick. and have Google in their back pocket...FAT back pocket.

Okay, so I'm mad because I didn't get thewhole conceptfirst and make a killing from it.

Sheesh, I'll behappy if I get an article for more than $8. All I get is from $4-$8 and really I don't expect much more that way I'm not dissapointed. AndI agree with the post that said she makes more with writing on topics of interest to her than the so called wanted topics.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump ship from AC in favor of CC. It's true
you can get
more per article with CC, but you can write 10-20 articles,
or more, for AC before someone finds one article of yours on CC and
buys it. I'd just do both, if you like content writing, for which the
pay is known to be low in general.

AC is what it is; web traffic driven. I never had any
illusions that it would pay well. They gave me $12 for a 1500 word
article. I have a clout of 2 and I haven't sent them anything lately though, so I don't know
what's currently going on over there.

Wow this thread says everything that I've been thinking about AC! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed it!

I, too, have been getting quite a few articles rejected because they want them more "keyword stuffed". Mind you these were 'how to' articles about how to market your website and gain better sales. So they were chock full of information unlike the "How To Buy A Prom Dress" article I saw on there the other day.

At any rate, you've all summed it up. They just want to make Adsense revenue and don't care about quality.

Well, I have spent the last 15 minutes reviewing AC's website and I can tell you that the reason they are not getting enough traffic has NOTHING to do with your articles...it has to do with not setting the pages up right to bring in traffic.

Melissa-

I'd be interested to hear what you think about their on-page SEO (I
assume that's the angle from which your comments are coming). I
don't know what that situation is like, but I think it might be an
exaggeration to say that they are not getting enough traffic--even if
they could be getting a lot more (which is quite possible).

After all, they have cracked the top 20K in terms of their Alexa
traffic ranking (a flawed tool, but when we lack
alternatives...). Add that to the fact the site is owned/operated
by former Googleites and the fact that they have found a way to
convince tons of content producers to push traffic directly via
non-reciprocal links (oh, that ain't hurting SERPs either, I bet), I
would guess they are still getting an adequate flow.

On top of that, just last month (maybe early this month), they let the
media know that they plan on pushing content sales to third parties
harder. It's hard to tell how important the Adsense aspect of the
site is going to be in the long run if that's going to be a big part of
their model down the road.

I don't think the offer decreases that appear to be happening are an
outgrowth of under-performance with respect to traffic. I tend to
believe they stem from the site's success in getting the word out about
being able to write articles for easy cash. I'm guessing their
potential supply is so vast that they can nab sufficient content
cheaper. And probably are.

Side note: If Adsense earnings are going to be their primary
moneymaker, they might want to be concerned with the 9% drop in avg.
page views over the last 3 mos. That could bode well for talented
producers, as it may be a reflection of an overall reduction in content
quality as more learned of the AC option and prices paid dropped.
That's pure conjecture, though.

Anyway, I'd like to know what you spotted! Should be interesting!

Carson

I think the concept is that you must bring in your own traffic. Their site is geared towards authors, not readers and you must find the readers for your own articles(?)

That's kinda the impression I get from them. Because their home page doesn't even list all of the categories to read, it lists what you can write about.

That is what I find so frustrating. A while ago I sent a link to my grandma to look at my articles. She mentioned something over the phone to my mom, who I hadnít provided with the link yet. So my mom goes searching on the home page and said it was so hard to find my stuff. She said that she ended up searching for my name in the top of the thing. I know that they have a list of writers, but some are organized by their last name and some by their first.
<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />
Also, I went searching the other day and I clicked on parenting (I think it was). I had written a large number of parenting articles before. Granted, it was a while ago, but still. They were no where to be seen. You could only get to them through my profile. I wonder if after a certain amount of time they stop linking these from their categories.
