I find it rather helpful too. Some of these are resources are GOLD, especially since sites like Associated content have gone silent .. I have some private clients as well and along with a few other ventures I am finally seeing some good results

Contractors can always visit sites like odesk.com. There are many freelancers out there who apply for jobs if paid regularly.

Going to use the info here, since I am tired of working for pennies and writing about dentists and plumbers. I've been saying that for years and I never get anywhere. After 23 hours of mill work in the past day or so, I'm at the point of tears.

I find marketing myself SO difficult though. Any tips for that?

Great idea! If you have happy clients, always ask if they know anyone else who could use your help.... of course some of them might prefer to keep you to themselves...

The only thing I would suggest is to not wait a whole year before you ask. Depending on how much you write for them, I think waiting a month or two would be plenty.
