Talking WiseGEEK Rate Increase

I guess when one door closes another one really does open. I haven't been writing at WiseGEEK lately and just received this email:

I hope all is well! I don't know when you logged in last, but in case
it's been a while, I wanted to let you know about a big change we were
finally able to implement -- a rate increase! If you log into your
dashboard, you'll find out more in the most recent blog post. We hope
the increase will help you contribute more!

YAAAY!

I noticed that too. Mostly what I write is in the Manufacturing and Industry category and those now pay $14 per article. The home and garden are around $11 per article and the others that I saw were $12 and $13. I guess it is based on the popularity of the category (the more popular the less per article because WG can get more writers to claim them). Even though the articles are dry, the more $ makes it much more palatable

Post Not Sure

I'm not sure if they are hiring right now, but here is how to apply:

From time to time, wiseGEEK seeks out additional freelance writers to regularly contribute to wiseGEEK. If you're interested, you can send some writing samples (in the body of your email, not as an attachment) to catherine [at] wisegeek -dot- com. Writing samples donít have to be similar in format and style as wiseGEEK articles, although they are preferred. If the samples are something we're looking for we'll get back to you with more details about the job and let you know your next steps.

I do a lot of writing there and was happy to see the rate increase. Is it just me or have the article titles improved as well? There seems to be a better selection now.

I had stopped writing with them for a couple of months because of other obligations and the little time i had was giving to DS because they paid more- but I'm glad to be back writing for WG again now- the rate increase makes it totally worth it because I write mostly science and manufacturing anyway
