Default ZoomScribe is Hiring

Looking for a few transcriptionists. If you're new, that's fine. But you'll need to be familiar with an audio playback software, such as Express Scribe. You will also need to have a good pair of headphones suitable for transcription, to ensure accuracy. Microsoft Word is required. Using another word processing program and converting it to Word does not work well with many of the templates, even though it looks correct. So you'll need to have Word.

How it works:

You fill out a schedule and input the amount of minutes you want every day. You will get around that amount of minutes in the afternoon the day before and it would be do in the afternoon the next day. If you cannot work, then you put 0 and you don't get anything. You can always change the amount you're available for, as long as you're not assigned anything. Mostly, you will get the audios in the afternoon for the next day. Some projects have a more flexible timeline.

The audios range from crystal clear to slightly difficult, but nothing super hard. We tend to give the more difficult audios to the more skilled transcribers and don't start you off with anything hard to hear anyway.

The work general non-verbatim and cleaned up transcription. We take out ums, uhs, stutters, false starts, and filler words. Mostly, the topics are around Internet governance, research interviews, one-one-one interviews, and business and life coaching. There's not a lot of talking over each other and if there is more than two speakers, the recording is moderated and people say their names before they talk.

Pay will depend on your experience, grammar skills, and degree of accuracy. Pay starts at $0.58/minute, but as of right now, nobody makes that. Everyone makes way more. You can quickly move your pay up within weeks as your familiarity with the clients increases and if you are skilled. Pay is twice a month via PayPal.

Please email [email protected] if interested. Include in your email any transcription experience you have, what kind of headphones you use, and verify that you do have Word. Also include what your ideal schedule would be like and your availability.

f chosen to test, you'll be given five-ten minutes of an audio to look over and read along with the audio, then continue on to complete the next five-ten minutes and return for review.
