True, Cvs and Cover Letters are a crucial part in determining whether one can land on the job he's applying or not. Both aim to show future employers why you are a perfect candidate for a particular job. Really great tips here - thanks!

Do make sure you are using spell check and editing your resume before you submit it to a potential employer. Even just doing a copy and paste into Word to run the spell check will go var.

They still ask kids to edit their papers before turning them into the teachers. This is an invaluable tool to aid in finding the mistakes you list above and eradicate them. Great list!

Wink Clear, concise, complete

Basic formatting is good. There are tons of resume templates available for free on the web! Make sure you address any gaps in your work history timeline and include a basic rundown of your education. Keep your contact information simplified and up todate and no more than a page, maybe 2 at the most. Stay away from things like salary history and requirements and anything negative about previous companies. Check for grammar and spelling mistakes as well.

The importance of spell check in a resume can't be stressed enough; however, you also need to read through your resume to catch subtle misuse of words that spell check won't catch. Misused word such as these:

Commonly Misused English Words

I would also keep the resume concise and to the point. I personally like bullets do that effectively.
