HI
I have a 7 year old female and I canīt take her for car rides that much because she wonīt sit still and has messed on the floor before because of her anxiety. In the last few years she has developed occasional seizures that started because of her anxiety from thunder and now they come whenever. Vet said they cannot do anything unless they are coming more than every 8weeks. But as for the floor licking mine recently just started that too. Not sure why, I am thinking maybe an upset stomach kinda like when a dog eats grass to ease there stomach or make themselves get sick but I would love to know that too.. |

My sister has two dachshunds: a male and a female.
The female is such a lovable dog and she loves going for car rides. She's really good in the car and enjoys looking out the window. The male on the other hand is hell on wheels. He barks non stop at anything and everything passing by. He has to be held or he'll run around the car like crazy. He doesn't go for too many car rides lol. |

My friend owned one and that thing barked at anything bigger than an ant, chased anything bigger than a fly, and freaked out about car rides/fireworks/etc. The other comments lead me to believe that not all dachshunds are this way . . . but it certainly is not abnormal.

My Dad had a couple of these dogs except for the bad backs they are great dogs. I would suggest you calling another Vet and ask him or call a dachshunds rescue group for help on this help.
My Dads would run ride with him in his car and go to his business. |
