Good luck! Joining a new company can be a lot of fun and exciting and while the risks are significantly greater with a new company, the payoffs can be huge! I joined my company, Madison Handbags, when there were only about 300 consultants. We've doubled that since then with reps all over the country now. It's so exciting to see how far we've grown and as someone in a Leadership role, the growth and income potential in a groundfloor opportunity is truly unlimited. Best wishes in your new venture!!

I think getting in early definitely has its benefits! Talking the the company president, being on the ground floor, new roads to find, etc. It comes with some challenges so remember why you joined when the hiccups come. You have an amazing opportunity. Just be ready to weather the bad so you can enjoy the good!

I love being involved in a new company. In my situation, I literally talk with the owner every few days and share lots of feedback/suggestions that results in new products! Just one of the perks of getting in on the ground floor.

Good luck and what is the worst that can happen? You are out a few dollars? You will gain more experience and knowledge that will lead you to the next level in your life.

There always be what ifs in life. If you find a company you enjoy and what to part of do it. Most people who have success in DS share their excitement of their company and their products.

The first company I ever joined was new to the direct sales industry but operated as a retail store for over 30 years. I would say it stayed open as a party planning division for about 5-6 years. It was the best experience of my life!! And I learned so much from my team - whom many of them are my friends today - and just about the industry as a whole. I went with my intuition to join and it paid off! I was able to quit my corporate job and do it full time.
Now, when it decided to close its doors, I was completely lost. I had been with them for about 3 years, built a team, and a consistent income. I went through a panic attack and joined a few companies thereafter. Mostly start up and new. Some of those which have closed their doors as well. No matter what, I would never regret my decisions to join any of those companies. I learned a lot about what to look for in a direct sales company and what's important to me. There was only one company which I joined in a prelaunch stage, invested about $2500 and the company folded...turned out to be a scam...and no one received money back. That was horrific! I would say with start-ups, you have to be willing to grow with the company and stick with them through the growing pains. I've found that start-ups are still getting their inventory accurate, marketing materials, and sometimes even pricing together. You do have the benefits of not being in a saturated market, but I have friends who joined existing companies and rose to the top of the company regardless of how many reps were in their area. So it's really all up to you! For me personally, I decided to join a company that has been around for 80+ years in other countries but new to the US. Overall, I feel as long as you have researched the company and its finances, and you feel comfortable with that then make sure you also join a great team with a supportive and "all-in" leader. Good luck with your new business!! And let your current motivation and excitement drive your business to success! |
