Has anyone had any success using dropshippers?

What makes me nervous about using them is this...what if I sell something and by the time the auction ends the item is out of stock?

I understand if no one wants to share their dropship sources, I know good ones are hard to find! But I'll take any tips or advice!

ninasmommy 01-24-2006 12:02 PM

I use a dropshipper and yes, a good one is hard to find. My suggestion would be to look at wholesale central.com for one and be sure to look at things youhave some knowledge about or enjoy as it would make sellingthe products easier.

As far as selling something and the wholesaler running out of stock, it does happen. I would suggest checking stock every day for the items you have listed and when you make a profit, buy some items to have in stock in casehe does run out of an item. If the item is out of stock and you have an active auction, you can end your listing early, but you will lose the insertion fees.

I hope this was helpful to you.

I just noticed, your name in your post - My name is Angela too :)

I use several drop shippers that are all small scale homebusinesses. I get one on one service, and I have developed friendships with these people and never have to worry whether my products are going to be shipped in a timely manner because of the great relationships! I would love to share the information with anyone interested. I have several bath and body companies, a custom handbag and jewelry co, soy candles and candle accessories, and gourmet food mixes to name a few!

Just PM me, or email me: [email protected] for more information!

Many Blessings,

I just signed up with a drop shipper recommended on this board.
I'd like to know if this seems high to you. The prices of the
good seem very good, but the postage seems crazy! I can live with
the $2.00 - $3.50 drop shipper service, but I think they're trying to
make out on the postage.

The drop shipper explained it to me that they try to sell things in
bundles and then you make out okay on the postage, but I don't want to
do bundles. I want someone to make a purchase and I put the order
it. Here are some examples: item, postage, drop
ship fee ...

Socks: 3.55, 6.50, 2.00

First Aid Kit: 10.07, 8.74, 2.00

Garden gloves: 1.00, 8.00, 2.00

Who's going to buy $1 gloves and pay $10 in shipping?

Thanks for any replies and words of wisdom!

which dropshipper do you work with? opinion of them? prices? stock?

membership fee?

thanks so much...

I buy and sell on ebay. Probably buy more. I would NEVER pay $1.00 for a pair of gloves and an additional $8.00 for shipping. When I bid on an item I look at the whole picture. Meaning, price of the item and how much the shipping will cost. Since I sell on ebay I pretty much have a general idea of what shipping charges are and when I see an inflated shipping charge it turns me off and I pretty much move on to someone else's item.

Now, I do know people say they charge a shipping and HANDLING fee and that is okay for certain items that require careful packing such fine china, glassware and other breakable items. But if someone wants to charge me a handeling fee to stick a pair of pants in a free priority mail box, "forget about it". I'll bid on someone else's auction.

Goodluck with finding a drop shipper, I am sure there are some good ones out there.

Dropshipping is not for novices on eBay.

I don't recommend it at all and during my years teaching eBay classes I
have had many occasions to hear war story about failed efforts.

Before you even consider a dropshipper for an eBay business you should
have at least 100 selling feedback and a couple years on eBay.

One thing to remember that anything that cuts into your potential profits is not worth your time.

Cost of merchandise should not include excessive shipping or monthly subscription costs.

jwinters63 02-21-2006 12:43 PM

I have never found a dropshipper worth my time or money. It really burns me when I see the info-mercials trying to sell the ebay "business kits"that include access to "high demand" items that are drop shipped.Ebay buyers want name brands and they want them for less than they pay in a regular store.

Hope I am notsounding too grim . . .

Kenna 02-21-2006 01:39 PM

no jwinters63,

I do not think you are sounding too grim and must say I agree with you. I hate watching those info mercials too. Ebay buyers do want name brands for less than the regular stores, at least I know I do!

AuctionDreams 02-26-2006 02:49 PM

Dropshipping and Ebay do work well together, its difficult for 'hig h demand' items like video games/ipods ect as the majority of the dropshippers cannotsupply quick enough (or are scammers) but dropshipping on normal items certainly does work.

Its all about finding the correct one and building a relationship with them...easier said than done.

arealhoneybee 02-26-2006 04:11 PM

I totally agree, and I have several bath and body companies, a custom handbag company, Candle and accessories company, and gourmet food mixes Company that are wonderful dropshipping companies and I never have any problems with Ebay Orders with these companies because they are all small scale homebusiness owners that make the items themselves and pride themselves on excellent customer service to both me and my customer! If you would like more information on my companies, just private message me or email me: [email protected]. I am happy to share my sources!

Many Blessings,

What about online supplier, has anyone had experience with this dropshipping company?

arealhoneybee 03-03-2006 04:29 PM

Hello Babs,

I am not familiar with online supplier, but I wanted to share my companies. I am with several different bath
body companies, and have a privite supplier that I use for bulk orders and
shipping of products myself, or more often...I take these to my flea market
booth and the Arts and Crafts Fairs that I work locally. Any of these can
be sold on Ebay or any auction site now. The links are at the bottom of
this email...and I suggest you just look over them and see if you think
these might be programs that interest you. On Sherry's Lavishing Soap and
Bath, you would make a 25% commission, and on Lavender Love you would make a
30% commission and both will drop ship for you. Sherry does allow you to
repackage her products for jurored Events, but Lavender Love does not. I
have found them both to be lucrative, but Sherry's seems a little more
verstile and has so many scent choices, so it is my main business, but I do
well with Lavender Love products not offered by Sherry...like the souffle
and eye pillows. What you make will depend on you...but I made an average
of $1200 per month in Oct., Nov., and Dec. of last year, and this is just
out of my Ebay Store, my Flea Market Booth, and Several Arts and Crafts
Fairs that I worked on the weekends of those months.
To follow is that Co. Info:

raise my prices a little on the front end to make as much as a 35-50%
profit, and the customers were still very happy about having a homespun,
freshly made product that they were able to customize to their needs.

I have been making a small fortune at local Arts and Crafts Fairs over the
two months and sell the products at a local flea market in addition to my
Ebay Store! I keep completely selling out of the lip balm! People buy one,
try it, and come back and buy more!

With this opportunity, you do not have to keep inventory on hand, drop

business as well. Products may be sold on any auction site, flea market, or

Many blessings,

For Lavender Love, here is a link that explains the program very nicely:

http://www.lavender-love.com/consultantprogram.html - If you decide to join
this one, please click on my custom link to join, so you will show up on my
team easily.

As for my stained glass, glycerin soap supplier, I will attach a pic or two
of it. I can sell you in bulk the small 1-2 oz. soaps for $.50 each, and
the large 4.5- 6 oz bars for $2 each. I sell these very easily for $1 per
small soap and $4 per large soap all day long... I, also, get small 1 bath
per pack (1.5-2 oz) Bath Salts and Milk Bath from them for .50 per pack and
sell it for $1. 8 oz. Sugar Scrubs are $4 each and sell for $6.50 to $8
each...depends on your area...I can only get $6.50 for them, but several are
selling them for $7 or $8. We can fill up a Priority Flat Rate box with
things for you for just $7.70 Shipping. I can get about 40 large bars of
soap and 20 small bars of soap in a box...so you can see you can easily
double your money on these items, but if selling online, you would have to
do your own shipping.

I just signed up with Maddy Moo Creations, too, and I will just give you the
website, if you are interested in more info on the custom handbags and
jewelry once you look it over, let me know. This company has a FREE
