Hi Lauren. The best advice I can give you is to apply with a well written piece about a city you know well. Huntsville would be a good one to use since there is a lot of interesting stuff in the area. For your test, I would say use third person and be a little more formal. Stick with basic AP guidelines for the test. Once you get approved, go over the instructions for any assignment with a fine tooth comb. I've done work at Scripted that called for using a style other than AP, specified first person only, and others that gave the writer a great deal of latitude in terms of style and voice. Wishing you great success!

Hi there! My name is Lauren and I'm from Huntsville, Alabama. I 'm 24 and I'm a newbie freelance writer. I just signed up and took the test at Scripted.com, and now I'm applying to specialties. I searched the WAHM.com forum for information about Scripted, and I saw that you were accepted to write for them in multiple categories. Then, I saw you were from Montgomery, and I felt a kinship, haha. I was wondering if you had any advice to pass along. I really want to get accepted for the Travel/Lifestyle specialty, and I hear that's a good choice because they always need more writers for that category. Specifically, I'm wondering if I should write in the second person or stay formal. Should I avoid conjunctions etc.? I wish that they had examples of accepted applications. I think they used to because the directions on the website suggest that you refer to example applications. Any help would be totally appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
