Family members tend to think because you're home, and not going to an outside job,
that you're not really working, and sometimes they don't give you that space to focus on work
they think that you're ignoring them, but I am delighted that I have the flexibility to stop for a few seconds to make a quick peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, or to clean up a quick spill.
I wish they would look at it this way too lol.

Distracted for sure! I have 4 kids, but this year my youngest twins- are in full time kindergarten now and I have the day to do work...but I still have housework and meetings, etc. I also have to have a special kid free zone when putting together lockets as not to loose any pieces.

I also think that not sticking to schedule is a problem. You have to make a schedule & stick to it just like you are working for someone else.

I agree not setting up a schedule or having a private area can be a big downfall. My home office is in our walk in closet since we could not build a seperate room for my office yet.. lol. But it works and it helps me stasy focused and my family knows when I am in there it is work time. But the perk from working from home is you can set your schedule around your family.

I was also thinking about making our walk in closet my office. Right now I have my desk set up along one wall in our bedroom. If I get a smaller desk & remove the wire racks from our closet, it will probably work

The biggest challenge is learning how to balance being a mom and a career woman all at once. I have 3 kids under 7 and it can get kind of crazy here, but I do my best to keep them involved in my business and understand what I am doing at home. This way they don't feel shut out of "my world" when I am here.

This is what I signed up for and wouldn't change it for the world!

I'm going to be an online High School teacher in the fall. I'm worried that my friends and family will think that because I'm home, they can stop by at any time, even though I am actually working a full work day.
