Hello from MN
Hello all-
I am new to WAHM and from looking around the site I am falling in love with it. I am currently going to school for web design but have fallen in love with the graphics part of it so I am some what switching my career. I am married to my best friend and we will celebrate our 7 year anniversary in July. I have three great kids 19, 15 and 7. Some days I can't believe I am the mother of a college kid since I was younger than he is now when I had him. I am looking at doing some freelance graphic work and also some work for friends and family to help get my name out there so I can stay home and work and take some stress off my husband from working 60 hours a week. I do need some advice though, I am struggling right now if working outside the home or in home is best. I realize working outside the home will give me some hands on experience but with daycare and gas costs is it really worth it when I can make money from home? Ok, I feel as if I am babbling but I am so excited to be here. lol

Tough question, bruoni. There are definitely pluses and minuses to both working at home and working outside the home. I couldn't imagine ever not working at home, but I have friends who would never dream of not working in an office. If only there was a simple answer, huh? Best of luck with it!

Welcome. Around 6 years ago I switched from FT B & M to wahm. I traded in the bigger salary and benefits for flexibility, more time w/family and less stress. Its a tough decision, though. I would try picking up some side freelance jobs wah first. That will give you an idea of how frequent the jobs will come in and what type of money you can make. PS I see a steady flow of freelance wah graphic work, but some of it does require some site/office visits. Best wishes.
