I know we have touched on this a bit before but I would like to hear what your favorite Health & Fitness related magazines are and what you like most about them.

I am definitely getting a subscription to Prevention (LOVE IT!) and I know that I don't care for Oxygen (too much body building stuff for me). Could you tell me if Fitness magazine is similar to Oxygen?

I have looked at a few in the store but just don't know which ones I'll be most interested in so would like to hear your input.

Also, has anyone ever ordered subscriptions from www.magazines.com?

Thanks!

I use to get Shape and Runner's World. I really liked both. Don't know why I let my subscription run out! Need to put that on my "to-get" list.

Shape use to have recipes, inspirational stories, weight loss success stories, instructional exercise routines, etc. Full of info.

Runner's World is more for runner's of course. They usually do a "test" on running shoes and give them a grade - they actually have runner's test them and give feed back on the shoe performance, etc. Lots of articles on running related events, marathons. Almost anything related to running.

LOL ~ Angie, Oxygen is my favorite magazine. I was actually just talking about it in our company folder. I don't like all the ads, but I love the bodybuilding stuff and recipes and meal recommendations. Many of the fitness models are moms and I just find it very inspiring to see that moms can have hard bodies, too.
Fitness isn't very similar from what I've seen. I don't read it regularly, but it looks good.

I used to read Shape years ago and have been meaning to pick it up again. I used to love the success stories.

I also like Runner's World, Deadra.

I actually have a subscription to Fitness and it's not as much about bodybuilding as Oxygen. I love both, btw! I actually got the new issue of Fitness today and plan on looking at it tonight.

There is one I picked up about 2 months ago and fell in love with it too! I think it's my favorite now. It's called Fitness RX. LOVE IT! It does have some weight lifting/strength training articles, but a lot of it is about current trends, overall health, recipes (I got a great veggie soup recipe from my first issue!) and what I really like is the articles they do are really unbiased and present both sides and they cite their sources, which are peer-reviewed journals. It's awesome!

Health magazine is another one I get and it's great for overall health and wellness, so it does include a lot of different topics.

Oxygen is my favorite, too! LOL!

I'll have to check out Fitness RX, that sounds really terrific. Shape is another great mag too. I like Muscles & Fitness Hers a lot. It usually has some great menu guides and although it is centered on resistance training, they touch on other exercise issues as well.

Have you browsed the magazine websites? Usually you gt a nice overview of what's in the issue and a solid feel for what the magazine is about.

Good luck!

Happy reading,
--Kitt

That's a great idea Kitt & Angie. That's how I ended up getting 2 free issues of Cooking Light as a trial!

I used to get Looking Good Now! which I loved but it was bought out by Shape so I'm back to the magazine rack.
