I'm trying to decide also. How about price? Is one cheaper than the other?

The price points seem similar with both companies. I've used doT's oils but have not used YL's. There are quite a bit of info on both companies if you Google and would be helpful for your research. Best wishes to you!

Young Living has more oils to choose from. Doterra people left YL, to start there own company. Young living has control over all the growing of all the herbs from seed to oil. Personally I think the oils they produce are the best on the market. Its there only focus. They don't do anything but oil. That matters in my honest opinion. Good luck on your decision.

This is older, but here's an email response by David Sterling concerning how & why he left and more about doTERRA. I figure leaders leave companies all the time and if they left there was a reason. Always 2 sides.

Stirling response to critiques

doTERRA sources their oils from where the plants are indigenous & grown in their most suitable environment.

Again, not here to argue who is "best." People obviously have had amazing results with both oils, but people should base the decision on the right reasons and personal preference.

What sealed me with doTerra was I felt their compensation plan was more generous and I love the training and support I get from my upline and other resources. The price points on the same oils are pretty close.

Watch a very brief video on doTERRA’s Compensation Plan to see how quickly you will start earning income! doTERRA Compensation plan - YouTube

If you do decide, and are looking for a mentor this is what you can expect from me:

Personal one-on-one training.
Daily communication and support – via text, phone or email.
Weekly one-on-one mentoring via phone, or FB
Monthly planning and strategy meetings.
Initial intensive training.
Consistent training opportunities and resources to help you become confident in the dōTERRA business and product.
Ongoing support and encouragement
Your goals will become my goals.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, let’s talk. I promise I’m not pushy or aggressive. I would love to talk with you about fulfilling your own dreams though this amazing business. I learned very early on the compensation plan from doTERRA is very generous and from the time I started in September, 2013. I then enrolled my first people in November, and now my own essential oil orders have been covered every month, and I was turning a profit by my third month. It is so wonderful to have something I am passionate about that was able to benefit my family financially!

Feel free to PM me to learn more. I truly feel it is the upline and support you get that makes a company and your experience great! If you want a sample to compare the two companies, let me know.

I personally love doTERRA. Great customer service, great support system and compensation plan and outstanding product. FYI: Past Tense essential oil blend is amazing for headaches/migraines.

I'm also trying to research both and make a decision. It's hard!

Default My experience so far with doTERRA

I have been doing research for years on EO companies. I had been friends with a gal on FB for two years who was a doTERRA rep. We had met on Pinterest because I noticed we had so much in common after seeing her pins. After that for the last few years I noticed she would post about her doTERRA experiences and about the product of the month. Finally, I sent her a message about her thoughts on doTERRA and all the negative gossip I kept reading all over the internet. She put her thoughts in a message back to me and gave her number for me to call if I had any further questions. I called and she was so laid back, sweet and we both had so much in common. She never asked me if was going to join, but I did. I am so happy I joined, I got my starter kit and I just love the oils. FYI the peppermint does not smell or taste exactly like a candy cane, it smells and tastes like peppermint and is very clean and refreshing. I signed up to have the use of the oils and other products for a healthy family and I told her that. Little did I know that I would fall in love with the company, the products and adore the rep I signed up under. She is now a wonderful friend that I have spend hours with talking on the phone not only about doTERRA but the many passions we both share. I have no doubt that I made this decision with my heart. I believe in their products 100% and enjoy learning more about them.

I also have a friend who is a Young Living rep. Young Living has excellent products also. Young Living works for her and doTERRA works for me, but we are in it together to have healthy lives and families. We even enjoy getting together to do an oil comparison, which is what caused us both to believe that each of us is a distributor for a wonderful line of products.

So I'm here to say whichever company you choose, you really can't go wrong. Do your research talk to reps for both companies and pick with your heart. That's how I found that doTERRA is what works for me.

Both companies have quality products. What drew me to dōTERRA is how they source all their oils in their indiginous environment. Having lived on different continents I firmly believe that it is impossible to recreate an indiginous environment in a greenhouse, the soil is never the same and neither is the air or the water.
And of course sourcing in different parts of the world creates the fair trade aspect where there are now thriving communities that were barely surviving prior to dōTERRA.
