You can buy soap shreds. I make my own lye soaps and I would be willing to sell you soap shreds. They are shredded soap that has no dye or fragrance. You would have to do the rebatching of it.

Hello,
I use the glycerin melt & pour soap base to make my soaps. There is no lye involved. The base comes in 1 lb. blocks and is so easy to make. I also use the mica powder for color and my soaps come out Beautiful!!

I buy my base at Peak Candles, but there are many other sites; Moon Glow, Cierra Candles, etc. that sell soapmaking products.

Hope this helps!

Hey MPoulin,

I also want to try making soap. Where do you get the soap base? What is pure soap base? Why do you have to have lye in soap?

How come you then don't need lye in soap?

Can we make shea butter/olive oil soaps w/no lye & pure soap base?

How much does it cost to make a large block of soap? Is it cost effective rather than buying natural bars @$4-$5 each?

Thanks!!

Doreen

I buy my base from Peak Candles athttp://www.peakcandle.com/. They have several different types of melt & pour soap base.

I have not used lye in my soap due to the type of base and process. Melt & Pour you don't need lye. I believe the cold process and the base needed for that uses lye. You can get all the instructions on their website as well as athttp://www.candletech.com for melt & pour.

I plan on selling my 4.25 oz bars for $3.50 ea. This is all based on overhead, cost of materials, including packaging and labels, etc. When making your own soap, you know exactly what the ingredients are and have fun doing it to boot!!!

I hope this helps. Try making some M&P. I use molds that are also available at Peak, but you can get them at many other sites as well.

Have a great day!

Hi Linda,

Yes, Candlewic is also a great site. So many sites, couldn't get them all named. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for info!!

Do you all make a separate soap from molds or do you make a giant loaf or log & cut that up?

Doreen

Also I'm interested in making candles from either beeswax or soy. Either scented w/Essential OIls or unscented. No dyes.Do you do these too?
