Default Dealing With Taxes When Working For International Companies

Planning on starting independent contract work with a company in Canada and I live in America. How do taxes work in that situation?

They require no tax information from me. Do I even need to report the income? I actually hope so because I dearly want to get health insurance on the Healthcare exchange and I live in one of "those' states that did not expand medicaid so I have to make at least 11.5k to get insurance on the exchange.
