Default Are Business Cards Still Necessary?

As I ordered my own updated business marketing materials for the New Year, I wondered how many have abandoned traditional business cards thinking they are no longer necessary. Even with the very limited time I spend outside of the house, I still find numerous opportunities to hand them out to potential readers, clients and customers each month.

I want to know. Do you have business cards for your home business?

I think they are still very valuable to have. They probably aren't given out as much as in a traditional setting but it is much more lasting to hand someone a business card with your web address than to just tell it to them and hope they remember the information.

I won't be without them. I don't use VP. I use a guy that is local. He gives me better cards at a better rate...and faster. Then, they don't look like the card everyone else has. It helps me stand out.

I have cards as a virtual paralegal and as a writer.

absolutely - as soon as someone finds out what I do they ask for a business card or catalog so I carry both around.

Yes, indeed they are valuable still - especially if you get into networking meetings with offline business owners as I do. Reciprocating by offering your card after someone offers theirs is polite and normal.

Mind you don't become a 'card spammer'. Only offer a card when it's polite and natiral to do so.

I believe they are still necessary. I send them out whenever I ship a package to a customer or someone asks me on the streets where they can buy the products I make and sell. I keep cards in my purse. It's a great way to promote your business.
