Years Old Thread Being Bumped?

Seems a lot of threads 3-5 years old are being resurrected from the grave. If they are that old, it's probably a good idea to start fresh so that folks don't take time to reply to an issue (or person!) that no longer exists.

Yes indeed I've saw this happening more and more I think people are not paying attention to the dates just the titles....

They must be pages into the threads though, as these forums tend to be busy

It was for "promotional" reasons - at least, the ones I saw were (I "reported" a few).

Nice. I was thinking maybe threads need to be locked after so much time, but I know the mods have more important things to do with their time than go around and lock up threads

Although I'm sure quite a few bumps are promotional, I would also guess that many people arrive directly at a post as a result of a Google search. And if they're like me - I don't notice dates on posts at all - they just reply without even thinking about how old the original post is.

Plus, I don't think it's a waste to add to old posts. Even if the original poster is long gone, quite often the thread contains great information that will be helpful to many other people.

Wonder what my oldest post is on this forum......

Very good point - I guess they do.

(Though those can also be people with "promotion in mind" looking for forums to join where they can get their link/sig-file in front of people, and of course not knowing at the time that 30 posts are needed here before a sig-file's allowed. ).
