Suggestion: Make Subject Lines Descriptive

When browsing through a forum this large, it is necessary to selectively choose what threads to read. I would like to suggest that those who create new topics create a subject line that is very descriptive of what will be found inside.

For example, today I found topics titled:

Questions?????

Could use a little HELP here

Thoughts on...

Please advise

It would help me—and probably others—if the subjects were more like this:

Questions about body building

Could use a little HELP with my clogged toilet

Thoughts on Jack Handy

Please advise me about my thighs

You probably know this already, but if you hover over the subject line with your curser the first sentence in the topic will appear for you to read so you can choose if you want to click on it or not.

Sure, but that assumes that the first sentence contains enough information to be helpful...instead of just more annoying.

If you want others to read and respond to your topic, it helps if you take the time to give them needed info.

I like this suggestion. I read them and perhaps can't help and it would be great if they were more descriptive. but I never put much thought into it either...lol. so either way I guess I wouldn't care if people weren't extremely descriptive. but it's still a good idea.

It is very helpful to those trying to use the search feature. This is esp helpful to those who are looking in the telecommute folder for a specific company and if the company name isn't in the title, it makes it harder to find. The 'hover affect' doesn't always show the entire name or the company or explain what the person really wants to know.

Also because it is such a large and busy forum, it would make things more streamlined if the subject reflected the topic, rather than a " I need help" or " Have you heard of...."

I also completely agree. It's very helpful to know whether a thread called "Question" is going to be about something interesting like lipstick or Louboutin shoes or about something tedious like marketing or squeeze-pages. And Russian mice are not well-trained enough to do this hovering trick. [img]smileys/smiley5.gif[/img]

In our alphabet, "ya" is actually one letter (it's that one that looks like a reverse-printed upper-case 'R'), so however one transliterates it, it's inaccurate really. It's Yuliya in Russian, anyway - when I joined here, I tried to be "Julia" first but that name had unsurprisingly gone, and I tried "Yulia" next without also changing the last letter(s). I had not realised it was the Hollywood version! [img]smileys/smiley9.gif[/img]

The additional information on the subject line would make it a whole lot easier to pick and choose which thread you wanted to participate in. When you click on an unknown subject matter topic it does take a little longer to post on the thread that you prefer. I always try to be as productive as possible because being efficient is very important in my day to day activities.
