We have openings in our transcription department for both Corporate and Legal transcriptionists. Most corporate positions are same day turnaround for the work. Legal generally has a 3-5 day turnaround. Corporate uses MS Word and requires proficiency with that program. Legal, depending on the client uses either Word Perfect or MS Word.

All positions require that you have or be willing to obtain a digital foot pedal in the near future. All positions require you to use a good quality headset. Using a pedal enables you to work up to four times as fast as a typist without a pedal. This allows you to be offered more work.

Those who work on the Social Security, Bureau of Veterans Affairs and/or Immigration accounts will be required to complete a full background check and finger printing as required by DOJ (Not required for general legal work.).There is no charge to you for the background check. Legal pays between .65/page to $1.75/page depending on the client, the type of work and the turnaround time. Some clients pay far more depending on requirements..

Corporate ranges from a low of .40/audio min. to a high of 1.50/audio min. depending on the client you are working with and your level of speed, accuracy and turnaround time. The upper range of the scale will be given to those with 99% accuracy.

Pay per audio minutes is determined by how many minutes of audio you transcribe and is NOT dependent on how long it takes you to do the work. Pay per page is determined on how many finished pages you have transcribed and not on how long it takes you to do the work. We do not offer computer support for installing and/or running programs. Not all foot pedals work with The Record Player or Start Stop.

You will need to have the following in order to do this work.

1. High Speed Internet Access.
2. Computer Running Windows XP, Windows Vista, 7 or 8.
3. FTP File Transfer Program like FileZilla, Core ftp, etc.
4. Express Scribe program for playing corporate audio files.
5. The Record Player for transcribing legal audio.
6. Messenger program like Yahoo Messenger.
7. Microsoft Word for most corporate work and for some legal clients.
9. Word Perfect for some Legal Work.
10. Good quality headset. Listening to audio through speakers is not acceptable.
11. Digital pedal capable of working with The Record Player for legal. Not all pedals with work.
12. Start Stop Pedal Power if you wish to transcribe video files.

These positions are Independent Contractor Positions. We do not withhold taxes. You will not be eligible for unemployment benefits if you stop working. You will need to sign an independent contractor agreement as well as a W-9 for IRS. We do not provide Workmen’s Compensation Insurance. As an independent contractor you work when you want to, provided work is available, although those transcribers that do not accept work on a regular basis generally do not maintain a skill set that meets the needs of our clients.
