Over the past 5 years I have gained 60lbs. I'm only 5'1 so you know I was carrying a heavy load. Not being able to participate in alot of activities I always shrugged it off, as saying, "I will lose weight later".I always new my weight hindered me from doing activities with my family and the impact it had on my children.

I have always kept my boys active in Boyscouts, but I was never able to go skiing with them or hiking because I was to big. Well last year they went on a hiking trip in September and I went with them.

I must tell you it was the most embarrassing moment of my life and I know, although they never mentioned it my boys were embarressed as well, because I barely made it up the mountain. I had to stop every few steps because I was out of breath and what normally is a 15 min walk (1mile) turned into 45min.

Well, to celebrate the end of school, we all went back yesterday and my boys were worried that I wouldn't make it up the mountain, but I did, and left some of them behind.

It felt so good to keep up with everyone else and leave some behind. that I walked it twice without stopping. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

Congratulations! I know how you feel, as I am 5'1 as well and have been at war for the better part of 10 years with my weight. Hang in there this board is great!
