It seems that quite a few Avon reps are selling their products on Ebay. Some of these reps are even selling the products for lower than what they paid for them! Are there any rules that says they can't do this?

We are NOT allowed to sell on Ebay...yes reps do it, but it's against AVON's policy.

I'm curious. What has Avon done to enforce this rule? You would think they would have some kind of agreement with Ebay or the VERO program to take these listings off.

I know one of the girls in our district was selling her old stuff on ebay. Not doing it as another source of income but to get rid of some the stuff she couldn't and Avon got her. Told her she needed to take it all down or they would terminate her account.

I got emailed from the legal dept when I had Avon in my domain name (I wasn't the one who did that) but they told me I needed to turn it over to them. Which it didn't happen because I didn't own it.

But there are people who get away with stuff but if you want to keep you account follow the rules as much as possible.

I actually purchased a couple of domains with the Avon trademark before I signed up for Avon and deleted them when I learned about this.

Are you sure they are active reps? If they are no longer active and selling their old stuff what's to stop them?

Some might be others may not. This one lady was selling Avon's new Chic In White so you know she's a rep. When I emailed her she offered to send me samples of Ironman. I guess the only way to find out is to email them and act like a customer or purchase something from them. However, Avon can set the rule to where "nobody" can sell their products on Ebay which eliminates any loopholes.

True - but some people may be just innocently selling stuff they received as gifts and don't want.

However, you CAN usually tell - if you have a lot of AVON on ebay as well as business supplies, you can pretty well assume the person is or was an AVON rep!

Yes, but I think Avon should do a better job at policing this. All they really have to do is join the VERO program which was created by Ebay to protect intellectual property rights owners. If Avon sees listing that they know was posted by an Avon rep, they can put in a complaint to remove all of them. If that person continue to relist they'll eventually get banned from Ebay which I don't think they want.

The stipulation lies in reps. signing up under another person's name (a friend or relative) and selling the items this way. Not to mention eBay has a privacy policy where they can't just give Avon a list of names of people selling. Those people would have to be discovered and reported. On the YA boards there have been many discussions on this topic and people go around in circles on it but nothing's resolved. Pretty much the only thing Avon really can do is delete the reps. who are selling under their own name and are found out. Otherwise, it's all fair game. Some people are ex-reps on there, some maybe bought a bunch of stuff at yard sales, some are probably the reps who sign up, order a bunch of stuff, and don't pay for it. Who knows? They might even be some Avon employees or DMs selling on there, too? Edited by: kristakey13
