Hi... I would like to know if anyone here can help me with this. I was looking into an online class to learn how to do this... does this pay very well and is it in much demand??? or is the market pretty much flooded with enough people to web design?

In my experience, web design is always in demand. Taking class sounds like a step in the right direction. Just keep in mind that you might not be able to jump right into making a business out of it. There is so much more to a web design business than html.

Good luck with the class! smileys/smiley1.gif

Running your own web design business requires a lot of dedication and effort. It's not easy, but can be a very rewarding way to work from home. I recommend taking a web design course at your local community college to help you decide whether web design is something you want to pursue. Having an instructor to assist you with questions and problems is invaluable and the cost for community college courses is usually quite affordable.

Remember that in addition to learning the skills involved in web design, you will also need to understand marketing and basic bookkeeping in order to run a successful small business.

Good luck to you and if I can offer any assistance or answer any questions, please let me know.

I've learned by necessity to build websites. I've built websites for my mother, myself, a caterer, multiple businesses and now one for a new business that my husband and mother are getting into. I've been a "techie" for so long, they all just rely on my skills to get things done. If you're like that and have the desire to learn more about web design, pick up a couple of books and start building practice sites like a family webpage. :)

Thank you all so much for the advice. My oldest son does this for businesses and he is going to help me with it also. I have been cleaning houses in my own business for over 18 years and my body is just wore out so I need to persue something else. I have always been into secretariar type stuff and have also taken care of my ex-husband's business so maybe this is something that I will find challenging. I appreciate the time you all took to comment back. smileys/smiley1.gif
