My avatars all seem to get distorted and are not clear. I'm pulling my hair out over here. Can someone let me know what I'm doing wrong? They either come out fuzzy or distorted in size, meanng my avatar should be oval instead of round.

Can anybody help me out with this?
Thx!

When the avatar picture is larger than the allowed size (64x64) it gets squished and distorted. You can fix it by using a square image cropped to 64x64 pixels. Do you have a graphics/photo program?<!--
var SymRealOnLoad;
var SymReal;

Sym()
{
window.open = SymWinOpen;
if(SymReal != null)
SymReal();
}

SymOnLoad()
{
if(SymRealOnLoad != null)
SymRealOnLoad();
window.open = SymRealWinOpen;
SymReal = window.;
window. = Sym;
}

SymRealOnLoad = window.onload;
window.onload = SymOnLoad;

//-->

I do... actually I have the brand new PSP. But alas, you can have the best stuff ever and it will still look like poop if you don't know what you're doing. smileys/smiley36.gif

Well, it looks OK now. But did you want the words/text to appear clearer?

Problem is, you might need graphics that are vectorized. With vector graphics, you can resize them any size you want and they'll still look sharp and clear as the original (or not that bad).

Actually it looks pretty awful. It's all fuzzy and round... if I knew how to post what it SHOULD look like here I would.

It should be sharp and vivid and OVAL. lol

You'd never know that I was a corportate graphic designer for 16 years. Trouble is, I was in print, not web. This stuff gives me a headache. smileys/smiley5.gif

Can you MAKE an image a vector image or is it just what it is?

Graphics can be vectorized or non-vectorized, and they're usually the non-vector type unless you specifically informed the web graphic designer for a vectorized graphic.

With regards to your avatar... you mean that's suppossed to be oval? smileys/smiley36.gif. In that case you don't want a square crop. Crop/Resize the original and select "Constrain Proportions" (or whatever is the appropriate selection with your software). You want the one that will resize your image but still keep the current proportions. Just make sure the image is still within the sizing limits on WAHM or it will be distorted.

However, the image might still look fuzzy... and having vectorized graphics will fix that (at least most of the time).

I've seen this very same logo on another board and it looked all perfect. Maybe it's the WAHM board format?

Clueless.

You can save this picture (right-click, save image as):

It is teeny, but it's clearer ... and oval. LOL smileys/smiley36.gif

Wow! Awesome! Thank you so much. I could send you the big original if that would be better... but this one looks so much better already. Let me hook 'er up and see how it looks now...

I agree... it looks SO much better. Thanks a bunch. :)

So, the reason it got smaller is because it had to compensate for the width of the oval, right? I think I'm understanding this.

Glad you got it working.

I didn't do a thing.... an avatar fairy came in and fixed it for me! (I'll stick to print design, thank you very much!)

You ladies are great. smileys/smiley2.gif
