Hi ladies,
My husband and I have been struggling lately trying to promote our website and my poor DH has been staying up late every night for the past month trying to improve the site but not much seems to work. So we decided to get it "fixed" professionally by a web designer company that can redo the whole thing and market at the same time. But I read in an article recently that some companies cheat. You pay them a fee and they supposedly "fix" and market your site but in reality it's their own people doing the clicks. So you end up with supposedly many visitors and no sales, which means just money out of your pocket.
How true is this?? Does anyone know of a good company that we can trust? We found a company in Utah, I think that did all this for about $500 but we wanted someone local we could actually pay a visit in case something went wrong, so we searched locally. And one local web designer told us that if anyone charged less than $4000 they were just going to do a poor job and were after our money. So he just hinted out a few pointers that we could change in the site and said not to trust anyone that charged below his price.
Recently we found www.servicewrap.net (http://www.servicewrap.net) that promises to place you in the top search engines, which hopefully will increase sales.I don't know who or what to trust anymore. We just don't know what else to "fix" in our website to make it appealing. We are loosing money daily, not to mention what we've already lost investing on Marketing Tools (books) that advice how to build a website and promote it. We're obviously missing something or not grasping the whole info because we're not doing that well.
Has anyone used a good web designer company that you highly recommend as trusting and dependable? We've already spend close to $700 and made $0 profit. We're not rich and have to be very careful on how we spend our money. We thought that an internet business could help us out a little by bringing in a little income but I'm not so sure now how this is ever going to work. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks a million.

Hi,
I wouldn't be too worried about the guy who told you that you couldn't have a website re-done and marketed correctly for less than $4000. That is simply not true.
I do web design work and marketing and charge way under that. But if it makes you feel more secure, I could charge $4000. (Just kidding. smileys/smiley4.gif)
I would definately stay away from any company that promises to have you in the top results for search engines. The only way to do that is to run paid campaigns. But topromise that just by optimizing and submitting your site that your site will show up in the top results in the major search engines is not something that anyone can guarantee.
The best way to go is to have someone run a pay per click campaign for you. That way you are getting people to your site that are interested in your product. And it can be very affordable. (I do this for several of my customers and they really love it.)
What websitedid you want changed/promoted? I wasn't sure if it was one of the ones in your link or not.
Please let me know if I can help you with anything. :) Feel free to call and or visit my website.

Being a writing wahm, I am familiar with a couple of content tricks to get you higher search engine results.
1. Submit articles to other websiteswith a link to your site. - this can't be a sales letter it has to be information that is useful to readers but a lot of website owners are going this route.
2. Keyword your content - even simple paragraphs, about us, product descriptions, and the like can be laced with keywords.
3. When using text that isn't in a special font, where ever you can try and use actual text instead of images because images won't be processed the same way by search engines.
Anyways, other than that hire a great web designer like the ones on this board and I am sure that they will offer a great amount of expertise.
