I have been contacted to do some book parties. What do you send and give as freebies to the hostess?
I know a distributor sends out small cd cases with the scents in them. My owrry is I won't get them back!
So what do you do?

Hi Tracey, nice to see ya here!! I have the sample bag, so if it was someone i know and trusted, i would definately leave it with them. Hopefully i would get more orders, since they could see and smell all our scents. I also made a binder with a place for brochures, order forms, scent descriptions and baseball card holders to fit in some of the more popular scents. i think i have 30 scents in it, and always adding more.
Now, for hostess gifts, i would do the same as if they were having a home party. I would give them a jar for having the party and then any other specials you would like to offer.

I am just starting out but here is what I plan to do.
Because my husband works odd hours and I have small children, I give a better incentive to catalog shows because It saves me time and money. (I would need a babysitter and I live in a rural area so gas is expensive too)
I have adopted what my sponsor does - for every 10 16oz jar candles sold they get 2 free. (I am also going to require that she has at least one booking also to get this offer) This way you can drop ship the order directly to your hostess and save an extra trip. I am not going to give up my sample bag, but I will be giving several scent sample baggies and catalogs and the scent description document. Most of the scents are self explainatory.
I thinkour brochure size makes it easy for people to have a catalog show because they mainly canfitin their purse.Just keep in a brown envelope. That way if youdon't get it back - it is ok. Edited by: Soy Candle Gal

I have two small cd cases with the scent cups in them.I thought about mailingone to the girl that wants to do this along with brochures, etc.
I don't have the big sample bag, but I have several CD cases, 2 small and one big one. Just hopes she mails it back when done. LOL!
I like that 10 jars/2 free thing, good idea. But what do you do when they order votives, bars etc? Do you just send them from you?

My sponsor only has jar candle catalog parties.
I decided to only sell my votives in sets of 6 same scent or a dozen, that way I don't have to order a ton and I can keep the same amount in stock. It is easier to store that way. I will send the other items for the hostess the items in the mail. If the hostesssells mainly soaps and votives,I will adjust the hostess gift to be fair.I would think that the jar candles will go over better.
Has anyone offered cash as a hostess gift? Someone asked me that and I was stumped.
