You can work from home as a Google Quality Rater or Ads Quality Rater. Moms who come across job ads for Google sometimes refer to these two positions interchangeably, but these are two different jobs. The details and pay information about these positions are also hard to come by, because Google asks workers to sign non-disclosure agreements. The good news is that both positions appear to be legitimate work at home opportunities and workers confirm that you will get paid for your work.
Role of Google Quality Rater or Quality Evaluator
A Google Quality Rater acts like a search evaluator, which is why the updated job title is Quality Evaluator. Your job would be to search keywords and rate the websites that appear in the search engine results. Google uses computers and sophisticated algorithms to perform some of its tasks related to ranking websites, but the company also hires individuals to do part of the work. Your job would be:
- To rate websites as irrelevant or relevant to the keywords that you're assigned to search
- Evaluate Google results
- Communicate findings using an online tool
This is often a full time position, which means you have to be able to work 40 hours per week.
Educational and Technological Requirements for Quality Rater
To get hired for this position, you need a bachelor's degree and two years professional work experience. You don't need experience working as a quality rater, but you need to demonstrate your understanding and experience with Internet research and other web technologies. Google will also give you a test that you have to pass in order to prove your analytical and web research capabilities at some point during the application process. High speed Internet access is necessary for the job.
Role of an Ads Quality Rater
The primary responsibility of an Ads Quality Rater is to track and report on Google advertisements on selected websites. Google lets you choose your own hours, although you have to work between 10 and 20 hours per week. If you work from home as a Google Ads Quality Rater, you will have to:
- Check the accuracy of the ad content
- Evaluate the web layout and the ad placement
- Use online tools to communicate whether Google ads are effective
Google offers bilingual jobs in this area as well, so you'll have a competitive advantage if you are fluent in other languages besides English.
Educational and Technological Requirements for Ads Rater
You have to be a college graduate to work from home as a Google Ads Quality Rater. You may be able to demonstrate equivalent experience to a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree if you didn't earn a college degree. You'll also have to prove that you have great web research skills, since much of what you'll be doing is researching websites. Google may also test you on your analytical abilities or look at your work history to determine whether you have those skills. You will need high speed Internet.
The more flexible of the two positions that allow you to work from home for Google is the Ads Quality Rater. The ability to choose your own hours can leave the door open for other income, just in case the pay is not adequate.
