Freelance Writer

Full disclosure: I am the co-founder and operations manager of the hiring company, which was just started up late last year. Feel free to ask me any questions about the job here or via PM. Thanks!

Write Action, LLC, a provider of writing, editing, and proofreading services, is seeking a few reliable and enthusiastic freelance writers for a medical nonprofit content project.

Project Details:

We have more than 1,000 medical conditions for which basic research and/or articles must be completed. First, for each condition, a quick internet search must be conducted to determine whether any U.S.-based nonprofits are devoted to it. If there are, then an article must be written. Each article should consist of 100-word descriptions of up to ten relevant nonprofits. For each nonprofit, the writer will also have to copy and paste the mission statement, URL, and logo from the organization’s website.

Pay:

$1.00 per medical condition with no relevant nonprofits
$1.25 per 100-word nonprofit description

So, for each medical condition, the writer will make anywhere from $1.00 (for very brief research that shouldn’t take more than five minutes) to $12.50 (for ten 100-word nonprofit descriptions). The more quickly you can do the work, the higher your hourly pay will be. Please note, however, that speed is not a requirement for the job.

Payment is disbursed once a month via PayPal for work completed during the previous month.

Writer Qualifications:

Native speaker of English or near-native fluency
Ability to write concise, fact-based content in a professional tone
Relevant writing experience (preferred, but not necessary)
Basic internet research skills (We will provide tips on how/where to search.)
Professional characteristics of reliability, consistency, and prompt communication
Ability to commit to writing at least 3 articles per week (excluding research-only conditions)

To apply, please send your resume and two brief (500-word or less) writing samples to [email protected] with “Applicant Contractor” in the subject line. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a sample 100-word nonprofit description and will be paid for it. We are looking to hire ASAP.

Good luck finding someone here but most people won't write for that price, especially not people with experience who can deliver high-quality too.

Thanks for your comment. We understand that our rates are not suitable for everyone, and for those people, obviously, they shouldn't apply.

However, for people who are just starting out or are looking for another egg, this job may be acceptable. Everyone's situation is different. I've been in the freelance world for a long time now, and I know for a fact that our rates are comparable to those of many other companies.

And we don't actually require experience although it is preferred; if you can do the work, that's what we're looking for.

I understand that you and many others might not be interested in what we're offering, but believe it or not, we are actually getting a good response.

Again, thanks for your comment.

Copy/pasting mission statement and logo is content theft/plagiarism/copyright infringement. Will Write Action LLC be taking legal responsibility for this content theft and/or reaching out to each non-profit for a written declaration offering permission to use/reproduce their brand assets?

You can use a logo and mission statement without permission in a listing or an article about a company or organization.

Depends on whether your article/listing is covered by 'fair use' terms, but thank you for your comment.

We are fully attributing our sources and using direct quotations. That's not plagiarism or against the law.

This is a common misconception. "Attributing your sources" and/or using direct quotations does NOT make it not plagiarism. You must have permission from the copyright holder to reproduce their content.

Applicants Beware

For anyone thinking of applying, BEWARE that the rate offered here will work out to be less than $5 an hour as an independent contractor. Even if the training and research is very very easy and everything is on the up and up, you'll never reach minimum wage.

Write Action, LLC is really making a name for itself with this.
