Default Retirement Plans for Full-Time Freelance Writers

If you're a full-time freelance writer, how are you planning for retirement? Do you plan to write until your arms give out or your brain turns to mush? Or do you have a plan to turn your freelance writing into passive income to support you in your golden years?

I do plan to write until I'm old! But I'm also working toward opening a Roth IRA to save for retirement.

Will you be putting a specific amount of your monthly writing income into your Roth IRA or will you take on an extra writing job and put all income from that extra job into your retirement fund?

I've been connected with thousands of work at home moms through different platforms. I've observed that many of them don't plan for retirement. It is very important whether you're doing a day job or making money through any untraditional method.

Here's a checklist that I have followed to create my own retirement plan:
  1. Spousal IRA
  2. Self-Employment Retirement Fund
  3. Create Your Own Credit Profile
  4. Contribute to Your Retirement Fund with Home Based Business
  5. Social Security Benefits | Utilize the Retirement Benefits
  6. Plan Your Future As an Occasional Work at Home Option

I'll just be putting in money whenever I can, but eventually I'll likely have a predetermined amount deposited into it. That will probably have to wait until both kids are in school and I can work more. My husband does put extra into his 401k for now, since he knows I don't have my own retirement account yet.
