Default Hired Puns - a text-based game on life as a freelance writer

Hi everyone,

I've come up with a brief text-based game about life as a freelance writer. I had hoped it could be a helpful resource for people who were just getting into the business, or for clients who were looking into hiring them. I would love to hear feedback, and hoped you can give me your thoughts?

Thank you!

I'm reading/playing it right now and so far it's entertaining.

However, I did find two problems on your first page.

1. You wrote, "but this weighs heavily in your mind." It should be "but this weighs heavily ON your mind."

2. I work in my pajamas all of the time. Why dress up if I'm sitting at home all day? I'm not trying to impress anyone.

I'll let you know if I have any more comments as I play through it. Neat concept, btw!

Default Interesting game

Interesting game, wish there was more than one way to win though.

I agree with NerdyCat on point #2. I wore suit & tie when I was in the corporate world. The day I opened my business in my home office the dress code went less than casual (and most of the time way more lenient than casual).

I don't fit into the field of freelance writer but I think your game has a good concept. I would like to see more depth in the destinations. Like you say, you're trying to provide a helpful resource. Hopefully, you plan to expand on the game in future. Some of those "game over" landing points strike me as being great opportunities for teaching those potential employers why it's wise to hire the freelancer with pay for the quality of the product they'll receive. At the same time you can give your budding freelancers help in learning the negotiation skills to do that teaching.

My last impression is that your final landing spots are more raw than they should be. As I read those ending thoughts I had the feeling that you wrote them in anger or maybe a feeling of frustration. I felt that you would be more helpful to people coming into this line of work if you made those statements in a more professional manner.

I'm not much into this political correctness stuff but I do feel that as teachers and mentors we do have certain obligations to furthering our student's chances at success.

Your game needs more work I think but I also believe that you're on to something here that can become a valuable instructional tool.
