Anyone ever have their entire Word document open as all pound signs? How do you fix this?
Thanks, |

I've had this happen when I tried to open a document originally created in Word 2003 in a system that had Word 2007. This happens when it opens the document in Wordpad instead. You can fix it by right clicking the document, select "Open with" in the drop-down list and choosing "Microsoft Office Word." Once you do this, the next time you open a similar document created in an earlier version, it would automatically open it in Word.

Where was your document saved? If you copied to a drive or external usb stick etc, try taking the file, copying it back to your pc, and opening it. Good Luck! |

Hello,
Nothing worked. I ended up rewriting the entire piece. I have it set to save periodically, but it didn't actually do it. |

I've had the same thing happen a few years back. Like you, I had to rewrite the entire thing. Talk about a pain.....

I use Google Docs which syncs everything to an online drive. Had my fill of problems with Word and can't remember a saving issue since I made the switch
