Default Willing to work

Hi, I'm willing to work for free at least a few articles anyway. I need some clips for my portfolio. I want and need to get my freelance writing career going.

Does this forum need more moderators?

Default It needs something

I don't depend on this forum as much as I used to as I haven't found anyone that is helpful. I had to seek help and motivation else where and I found it too! Cold pitched a travel blog this morning. I found it through another person who shared a link where I can guest post on blogs in order to gain experience and clips for my portfolio.

It's just that I keep running across these pointless threads that look like somebody's trying to get enough posts to put links in the signature, or something. I thought that stuff used to get deleted, but it doesn't seem to anymore.

Kballard, you can write up some pieces for your portfolio without having to give someone else free work. Remember also that for many jobs, you don't get a byline, so you can't use the work in your portfolio anyway. Just write a few different types of articles/blog entries/fake press releases/social media posts/whatever, and put them on your blog/website/company FB page. Then you can charge clients for your work.

Some people choose to start off working for free, and I often do pro bono work for organizations, but there's no reason to think that you have to work for free in order to successfully find clients!

I've had good results from reporting posts in the past. The mods seem to get to them quickly once their attention is brought to an issue.
