I use a PC at my desk with an ergonomic keyboard (if you don't use an ergonomic keyboard as a writer, I HIGHLY recommend it. You will HATE it for about a week or maybe two, but then you will wonder how you ever got by without it!).
Another important thing for me when I'm writing is to have multiple monitors. At my home office I have two monitors (I have three at my other office). This allows me to have research on one screen, and MS Word on the other. It makes writing MUCH easier and isn't that much more expensive. |

I work on a Thinkpad R400 laptop, which has a decent in-built keyboard - although it is missing a couple of keys since I took them off to clean it out and never managed to get them back on. That's ok, though, I just hit the metal bit under the key instead and get the letter I want. And I have an external monitor, so I can have my research + client instructions on one screen and the document I'm writing on the other.

I use a laptop, but I also have a little netbook that I use sometimes because it's lightweight and portable. I got the Toshiba N505, because it had the largest keyboard and longest battery life.

I work from my laptop (a toshiba) and we like the brand so much the hubby has the exact same one. I used to have an Acer but it would never last a year and with how much I used it I also needed one that could take the battering I would give it.
I also have a tablet that I use for notes and also for when I am working while watching TV and then when I am travelling I have the same Toshiba but in netbook format. |

I have a desktop PC that I prefer to work on, but I sometimes use my MacBook Air when I want to work somewhere else in the house or outside the house. I don't know much about computers. My husband built my PC and bought me the MacBook, so he is the computer guy around here lol.

I love my Macbook Air. It's portable so I can take it to work at the library or coffeeshop - or my back porch - if I don't to work out of my home office. I love having something I can take anywhere.

I have an HP touchscreen laptop that I love, love, love! I bought it online from Walmart, of all places. It's served me well so far, though it is a little bulkier and heavier than I would have liked.
I plan on eventually getting something like a Surface Pro 3 for working outside the house, but need a full-sized keyboard with my big, clumsy bear paws, lol! With three kids running around at any given moment, I need to be able to work from any spot in the house to keep an eye on them, so laptops or tablets are a must for me! |

Thanks for the responses. It's interesting to know what other writers do their work on. I'm considering getting a notebook type laptop. I want something fairly small and it doesn't need to be particularly fast, as I only need it for the web and word.

I can't use ergonomic keyboards because of the way I type. Believe me, I've tried.
I use a Mac desktop most of the time. I also have an Asus netbook, but it's going to be replaced with a real laptop when I can find the money - it's just too annoying for my HUSBAND to borrow. |
