Default What a Scam! Interact Media

I was reading about this place and couldn't remember if I had applied. I read the FAQ's and this is what REALLY turned me off. What a scam! You are required to work for free for their other site to keep earning money. The bit about how doing this allows them to keep the site free is so absurd I can't even begin to find words for it. I'm going to write a Teckler post warning people off of this site.

YoExpert
What is YoExpert and why am I required to join it?
YoExpert is our answer site, where readers can ask questions and get answers from experts in various knowledge categories.

During the application process, we will ask you to select a few specific categories that you have expert knowledge in. We do this so that clients can have the option to search for writers with very specific experience with a given topic. Your YoExpert account is designed to showcase your expertise in those fields.

As stated during the application process and in the writer agreement, we post all initial writing samples on the YoExpert website. This is done so that clients can see a unique sample of your work and to prove that you really do have deep knowledge of that topic.

Occasionally, visitors to the YoExpert site will read these sample articles and request answers to questions. If you have a question pending you will be notified and asked to answer the question. Once the question is answered, your account will be reactivated. This answer article is unpaid; however, the revenue we earn from YoExpert helps us keep our service free for all writers (unlike other writer platforms that charge writers a monthly fee or require them to purchase bid credits to get jobs.)

I have been writing for IM for months and never been asked to do free work. Not once.

I have written for IM for two years now and I have never had to do anything for free either. IM is a totally legitimate mill that pays better than many others.

Were you required to join YoExpert? If so, it's only a matter of time, I think, before you are required to do this. It's right here in the Writer FAQ's. Did you not have to check that you had read the FAQ's before signing up?

The YoExpert requirement is what's kept me from ever applying with Interact Media. It just seems very time-consuming.

In addition to the weird FAQ requirement, I tried to register and they said my name is already in use. So I guess you can't register if you have a common name? So I thought "Maybe I already registered," but it won't let me sign in under my email, and when I request a password reset, it says that email is not registered. I contacted them to find out what's up, and if someone else is possibly using my i.d. to write there. I wonder if I'll hear anything back. I'm still curious about the YoExpert thing, though. I'd like to hear from them about that.

Not only time consuming, but if they are using it to get free work, that just sucks.

The point is - I have NEVER received a single YoExpert request. Not one.

I signed up for a YoExpert account, but I've never received any questions.

I signed up with them a very long time ago and was required to write an article for the Yoexpert site as part of the application process/profile setup. I can't quite remember whether the article was for my application or whether it was required as part of creating/completing my writer profile, but I did have to write something, and it's probably still on there.
