As an Indiana tax payer, this really ticks me off. I KNOW we have bigger problems than this to prosecute throughout the state. We have a police officer who was drunk on duty and killed someone that can't be prosecuted because the wrong person took his blood but we're going to prosecute one who tried to save a deer????

You are talking about the case where the cop was drinking and driving while on duty and killed a motorcyclist, but charges were dropped because the blood test for alcohol was not obtained properly. That's what makes this case with my cousin and his wife even more absurd, and why most of Indiana are sick in their stomachs over it.

How utterly absurd! Good grief...with all of the real crimes going on every day, they've got nothing better to do than to pick on kind-hearted people with a love for animals? I do hope things work out for your family and that the court system will lecture the prosecutor for bringing such a ridiculous charge before them. Just wow.

Best of luck to your family. I just can't believe they're having to go through that. It is a waste of time and money that could be spent taking care of other things.
On a side note, I know how they feel. The police and animal control down here in SC try to round up anyone keeping wild animals once every few years. It's a real pain when I had to explain that I was nursing a bobcat kitten back to health because the electrical company tore up the mom and den with a bulldozer. They tried to press charges when the kitten vanished but they dropped them because we threatened to sue the electrical company. |

I don't even have words for how ludicrous this story is. Your poor cousin! THIS is why people are hesitant to help anyone out, including animals. Half the time, you end up getting sued. I remember a story about someone who tried to give CPR or first aid to someone in need and ended up getting sued, I don't remember exactly what for.
