Advertising with Fiverr

I was talking to a friend of mine today that suggested I started using Fiverr and similar sites to bring in clients. She said that she will do a 400 word article for a client on Fiverr and include a short mini-guide on hiring contractors with an ad to her services on the last page. She also makes a few guides on hiring contractors available that advertise her services on the last page of each guide. She says it is hit or miss, but more often than not she lands a higher paying client for further work.

Have any of you tried this and has it worked for you? She says by offering several freebies with each article she actually lands a few high paying jobs for consulting services as well.

I'm just curious if this is something I should be looking into.

I've always had what I would call an upsell on all of my fiverr gigs and the same with other sites such as gigbucks and its amazing how much high paid work I get off the back of it.

For example I have a course that I sell for $97 via my website. Its a 26 week course and I will sell the first 3 weeks on Fiverr. Then I will offer them the rest of the course for $100 and they take me up on it maybe 2 out of every 3. Because by then I have shown them how great my course is and they want more.

I would say its like giving them a sample of you and getting them hooked and wanting more.

I also find that for those that offer writing many want it in a hurry so make sure you take 10 days to deliver the work (even if you have it done before then) and offer a gig extra of their order being delivered in 24 hours and then instead of a fiverr you are making a tener!

OMG! This is genius. Why didn't I think of that?
