Default Improving Your Writing Skills Accidentally

I find it odd how our (or my) writing skills can change and grow even when you're not trying. I haven't done much to expand on my skills aside from following feedback from editors or triple-checking my work. But if I go back and read some of my older articles, from a few months to a year ago, it's a little shocking.

I know what you mean. When I go back to read my old work, I find that I say one of two things. I'm either going: "Wow. That's really good. I wish I wrote like that. Oh wait... it's mine!"

OR...

I'm going: "Holy s***. What illiterate wrote this??? Oh. Crap."

I can definitely tell I've grown as a writer in the past couple of years, though. I've had some awesome editors who were good at molding and enhancing rather than nitpicking.
