If an editor makes an incorrect edit, is there a way to contest it?

Yes, in CMS, click on "Comment" and explain your views to the editor. They'll see your response and get back to you.

After you receive a response from the editor, if you disagree, you can then explain the situation to your senior editor. Most CEs are very good about correcting scores I've disagreed with, and they've given good explanations when they didn't agree with what I contested. I also had to go higher once, and the situation was resolved to my satisfaction.
