I am a big fan of WP too. My writing portfolio and about half a dozen other sites are on WP with HostGator, including the one in my sig. Most do look like blogs, but there are so many customization options that you can make it look like anything you want. I love WP!

For professional writing sites, I like places like Yola, Wix, Weebly, etc. Great templates and the end result is very professional (take a look at my site: Home - Diana Bocco)

You use blogger for passive-income?. Do they rank well in the search engines?

I use blue host and word press for my sites, but I like Free :-)

Thanks

I used Wix. Keep in mind I know absolutely nothing about web design, which is why I love these flash sites. You end up with a very professional-looking website that was painless to build. It's all click here, click there, drag, etc.

I bought domain names for my blogs. Not sure how they rank if you keep the blogger address, but once you get your own domain name (and it's $10 a year, so it's really nothing), they rank really well (it takes some time, of course, but eventually they do).
