Yes, it is a big hassle, but...FIGHT THESE JERKS! I have been getting so fired up reading this thread and checking on it that now I feel that I am emotionally invested.

So even if you are tired of dealing with it, consider taking them down for my sake. Please? Contact Angela Hoy again!

He's threatening to destroy your reputation, intentionally. That is grounds for you to sue him (if he does it), and the fact that he threatened you is concerning enough to report the threat to any of his advertising networks, to let them know about the copyright issue and how he responded to you.

He is wrong, by the way - the copyright is YOURS, because you were not paid for the articles and the terms of the work for hire with your client were never fulfilled. HE has to chase down your client and get remedy from her.

Also, if you have attorney friends who are willing to help you for free, maybe they can send a legal correspondence to the jerk who threatened to ruin your reputation. He might get scared off if he sees that you've contacted a lawyer.

Yes, I know, defamation and libel are illegal.

@AG1976 I will contact Angela Hoy again. She wanted an update, so I will give it to her. I hope she will agree to out these two JERKS!

@prhilton Thanks so much for the support! I just took two extra strength Tylenol...

@prosaic If he does defame me, I will definitely sue and seek major monetary damages...but again, another headache. I guess theres always Tylenol for that, though. As far as reporting the threat to his advertising networks, as far as I can see there is no advertising YET on the site where my articles are posted. I believe he is building it up first before he puts ads on there, so I will be keeping a close watch. He does have another site with a different type of content on it that has Google AdSense on it, but I can't report that site to Google since it does not have my copyrighted material on it.

I did send off my DMCA takedown notices to his ISP, Google, Bling (Microsoft), Yahoo, and so many others I can't even remember. Microsoft responded that they wanted specific text, so I sent them specific text. Will update everyone as I get more info. I have to say, everytime I think about this situation I just get ANGRY. I'm a very nice, unassuming quiet type and it just gets my ire up when someone tries to take advantage of me (or anyone else like me). If ex client had just deleted my articles from her computer, I would have been fine with walking away...with my articles that is.

Talking Yaaaaay!

He took it down! Microsoft emailed me what they see at that URL (NONE OF MY WORDS), so I cleared my cache and voila!

I am sooooo relieved!

An end to the story FINALLY?

I am still going to send a heads up to one of my attorney friends. She may think it is wise to go ahead and send a letter.

Thanks!!!

FWIW I still sent his email to two of my attorney friends, and I am sure one of them will be responding to his email asking him not to threaten defamation of their client who was only protecting her copyright.

Love yall!

I'm glad you have a happy ending, but since at least one other WAHM writer has been burned by this 'content producer', is there any chance you could give a hint about who it is, so no one else here gets the same treatment?

To everyone who pointed me to Angela Hoy a big Thank You is in order. She actually found identifying info for webmaster jerkman so my attorney has all the info she needs.

@wah0mer Here is my dilemma. I DO NOT want any other writers to get burned by ex client. I also do not want to start any flame wars, he said/she said (or more appropriately she said/she said) etc. high school drama here. I also DO NOT want any future clients to read this debacle and decide that they do not want to hire me because if there are any issues, I am going to air all of the dirty laundry here on these forums.

What would you do? Maybe PM me and let's talk...???

General question:

From ex client's behavior, I KNOW I am not the first writer she has done this to. I KNOW I am not the last writer she has crapped on.... How come no one else is talking? Is it because it shows a bad light on you when you speak badly about someone else, even if you offer no opinions, only fact???

I'm sure that's why. But if no one speaks up, more people get burned... Catch 22.
