Default coming up with niche for my blog - opinion needed

I was thinking of starting a blog of my journey as SAHM in high cost of living area while trying to coupon, save for a house and thrive on one income. The main differential of this blog will be doing all that in high cost of living area where mortgage/rent take up 60% of your income and everything costs more then in the rest of the country. Do you think it has potential? Any other ideas I can use with this premise? I would also like to be able to make money somehow off this blog. Its just there are so many blogs out there I get discouraged.

Yes, go for it. I personally love anything "frugal" and money saving oriented and, read it religously. A special challenge is living frugally in a high cost area. I have found most people are reluctant to adopt a more frugal lifestyle for fear of having to give up their quality of life. If you can show how to do it from that perspective, that would be in demand, I would think, and have people interested. Good luck, I wish you much success!

I would say Go for it!
It seems like there are probably a lot of people who would be interested in this whether or not they admit it.
As far as monetizing the site, get readers first - get a following before you monetize. Once you have a following of people who trust what you are writing, it will be much easier to make conversions. Just my two cents.

In this economy? You bet! I'd even say the blog would be relevant to anyone who isn't in that coveted 1 percent. You should definitely go for it.

My friend recently started a frugal living site and is doing amazingly well, so I think you have hit on a good idea. More importantly - you are living the experience, and that is the key to a successful blog.

Make the most of Twitter too, if possible with a username that is the same as the blog. I prefer to look at Twitter alongside naming a blog as there are restrictions on UN length there that can trip you up.

If you do well you can take guest posts for pay.

Default Yep

Sure, if you have learned plenty to share I think it would hit the spot with many people.

Branding ideas

-one income mum
-single mom hacks
-coupon crazy
-I stretch dollars

etc etc
