What's a good size for blog post images and where do you put them?

Plus the one thing you have to think about with size is that if you are addinng large pictures to every post then you are going to slow down your website. Therefore when you use advanced blog themes (I am on Thesis) you can choose to use a thumbnail version in your posts to help with your speed. |

I try to use an image on every post I write. I aim for a size of at least 300x300, but I also have some writing clients who request image sizes of 600x300 AND a featured image of 150x150.
I think it's like the previous poster said, it depends a lot on your blog's theme because different themes can accommodate different sized images. I also use the Genesis parent theme and for some of the child themes, you can have a magazine layout that has a featured image, a larger image (600x300) or a mid-sized image (300x300). |

Yes, it depends on the blog's theme and the length of the article. Usually, I post images around 300x300 or sometimes smaller/bigger than that. I don't put too many images in one article as it could divert the reader's attention as well. I ensure that the number of images should depend on what I write about and its length.
