Or does it have to specifically be a wordpress.org account? I'm looking to host my own wordpress blog because they only allow 1 affiliate link per blog & I have many. I don't want to get shut down again.... I need ideas & suggestions FAST!

Thanks!

WordPress.com is only their free platform like you had. To use their blogging platform on your own domain you will need to go here:

http://wordpress.org/

To make things easy be sure you choose a host who provides the Fantastico script, which enables you to have the one-click installation and will save you some hassles. HTH!

Veperez,

I cannot speak for bluehost but I have used asmallorange.com for years for my wordpress blogs. My guess is they are similar...

Wordpress.com is a hosting account/worpress community service.

Wordpress.org is the home of the dev team. What you need to do is download wordpress from wordpress.org and upload/install it on a remote server (host) that you lease from bluehost or ASmallorange.com

ASO at least has something built in all "fantastico" in which all you do is choose a location, name, login and password and they auto-install wordpress for you.

Of course, you also need a domain name, and to set the name servers to your host.

Thanks everyone... well, now I am completely lost!!! I was able to upload wordpress 2.2 on bluehost using their fantastico feature. And, as you know I have a wordpress.com blog that I would like to transfer to my new website. I have already backed up my files throught the backup feature on wordpress.com but don't know how to upload it to wordpress.org.

For those that have used bluehost, do I use bluehost for this or do I still need to download wordpress 2.2 and do it through there? Are there any step by step instructions on what to do next?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I need to transfer my files to my new website but I dont know how.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You're going to want to "restore" your backup to the new blog.

Simple SAHM probably has more info on this
