I'll place my vote for WP because that's what I first came across back when I switched to CMS. I haven't looked at WIX simply because when I heard about it I was already comfortable with using WP.

I prefer WP, but I'm looking into Wix, and Squarespace, as well.

Default Hands down Wordpress!!!

But you're right, Wix is great for people with no background in web designing and need quick and simplistic sites for their business. WordPress, although very newbie friendly, it does take the initial learning time to really feel comfortable navigating this CMS. So it really depends on the user and their specific needs at the time.

Coming form someone who is married to a Programmer..all i can say is that Wix is ok if you want the basic plug and play, but word-press is more of a learning curve which has a much more flexible and bigger ecosystem creating plugins. Another problem with Wix is that it is limited for search and you cannot connect it to Google Analytics or add SEO to your pages.

I know that WP is popular but for anyone looking for something different take a look at GRAV it's a open source CMS that doesn't require a database, so it performs better with less resources. The only this is that needs to be self hosted on a VPS.
