Default Rev.com

Has anyone had luck getting signed up with Rev.com? I tried and failed 3 times the audio transcription portion of the test. The rejection letter doesn't specify what you did wrong. I don't know what more I could have done.

I used Rev for a total of one long week before they cancelled my account. I had to turn back in an assignment after their built-in 1 hour grace period. I just couldn't handle it. Not only were there too many speakers, the subject material was triggering as hell.

I passed the test just fine. They are among what some might call the big-box companies that pay peanuts. They may pay better than most, depending on who and where you are, but I had to see them as paid training otherwise I would have quit trying.

They seriously almost made me give up on the whole thing because of how much control they exerted over my earning potential.

Default Former rev slave...

I worked for them for about a week. I did the 60 audio minutes of some of the worst audio files they could throw at me for literal pennies, and got promoted to their 2nd tier within 3 days. Was on my way up to their top tier. Each of my jobs were graded 5/5. My metrics were top of the range in each section. Until the 5th of March, when their built in software glitches (something they are well aware of) and switched around all my speaker headings just before I finished clicking the submit button for the file. I didn’t notice what had happened. I completed two more jobs, then logged off for the night. When I awoke in the morning, I had 3 emails from Rev... two stating that two of my submitted files were graded 5/5, and the third email stating I was removed from being a transcriptionist there, effective immediately, because the first file I submitted the previous day had the speakers all jumbled up, and this drove my metric down to 4.3... their minimum is 4.5. Prior to this, my metric was 4.9. Perfect. Apparently, the two perfect jobs I submitted afterward only raised my metric up to 4.4, and I was out, decision was final. I worked a total of 11 jobs, from March 1st to March 6th...made $30, and will not be paid for the other $20 they owe me for my final jobs. That’s rev. They do this to tons of people.

Don’t worry about working for rev. Save yourself the heartache. They’re a sweat mill. Just look on bbb or Glassdoor... it’s all there.

If you’re looking for a position for a beginner, look at Casting Words, Scribie, Go Transcript, Transcribe me, Way With Words, 3 Play, CrowdSurf, or even Transcription Hub. Best of luck!
