Hello! I have been lurking here for about a month or so now and thought I'd say hi. My name is Rachel. In a nutshell, I have 6 months of transcription experience at a b&m agency, and am now looking to do this from home. I didn't know that you could make actual decent money doing this...I got paid minimum wage where I worked before! We called it "the sweatshop," ha ha. But it was valuable experience.
We moved to another state two months ago, and I'm finding myself with NO childcare options that 1. I'm comfortable with, and 2. that I can afford! My kids are in elementary school and summer's coming. Right now I'm doing temp office work during the day but I am hoping, by June, to have a contract or two to work on full-time from my home. If I can make this work, it'll be perfect for next year, when the kids will be in two different schools with two different schedules.
I have been reading these boards a lot, and thank goodness. Great advice on here. I have been accepted by one reputable agency that pays pretty well, especially for a relative newbie like me. I am about to take some tests for another good agency that I'm really excited about. Maybe "agency" is not the right word, but whatever, it's Friday.
So, that's all. Just saying hello. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
