Default Headset question

I've noticed many companies requiring a USB headset. I have a good headset already, but it plugs into the regular audio and mic connectors, not the USB port.

Do companies usually allow this type too, or are they really strict on having a USB one? It probably depends upon the company, but I just thought with so many WAH folks here, someone might have experience with this issue and could reply. Thanks!

Default get an adapter

They want the usb one because it's digital. The 3.5mm one is analog. You can keep your current headset if you get a 3.5mm to usb adapter.

As far as I know they all want USB headsets. You can get them for a good price at Wal-Mart or even office max.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think about the analog/digital difference. I'll have to pick one up at Walmart. Appreciate the info!

Amazon has a microsoft usb headset for around $20 and its great. The speakers sound better than my $100 headphones and the mic is fantastic.

Most companies are pretty strict about it and want you to have the usb. I even know some that want you to use a very specific one that they will send to you for a small amount of your first and second paycheck.

I'm with Convergys and we can use either but they recommend the analog and not the USB.. crazy, right? I can hear the difference in our group of agents!
