Default Uber Questions

Hi, guys.

I've read a couple of threads about Uber and it sounds really interesting. Could someone answer a couple of questions for me?

What is the scheduling like? I noticed that it said it is a 40 hour a week job. Is that true for all of you that have started already?

Are your shifts flexible? Do you make your own schedules or do you get a schedule made by someone else?

Is this a job that you can do with kid(s) being home and doing their kid things all over the place? I have a two year old. Preferably I could work during his nap time and then when my husband got home in the afternoon but, you know...toddlers. How far ahead were schedules made?

Anything else you can think to advise me on would be great. I think this gig sounds really cool. I love to write and I have a weirdly natural talent for customer service, the angrier the customer the better. (I was a completely cold-calling telemarketer for 10 years.)

Thanks!

It's a 40 hour a week job and they do try to work with you on your schedule. It does kind of depend on which area you're supporting, they work differently depending on the needs of that area. You set the times that you're available and they do their best to schedule you within those times. I get my schedule a week ahead but other areas get theirs 2 weeks in advance. Each separate area is almost like a different company, they work that differently lol

You can have all the background noise you want, except for when you're in meetings, but it isn't a very good job for people who may have to leave their desk often. They expect fairly high productivity.

This is the email customer support for the company that hires people to use their own cars for transportation services isn't it? How difficult is it to maintain metrics doing that?
