Default Scared to make telecommuting my full-time job? Independent contractor?

Is it a good idea to work for a company and expect them to pay you a reliable full-time pay? Even if your an independent contractor, is it ideal that one will make money?

I completely understand where you are coming from. I too, was the same way 20 years ago when I took the WAH plunge. I was so scared in fact, that I ended up working my full-time night job, while building my business in the day time. It ended up paying off big for me in the long run and ended up being the best decision that I have ever made. I would not look back or trade it for anything.

The best way to start and help lessen the scared feeling is to make sure that you are able to support yourself or have a backup plan or someone else that you can fall back on by having either another job (either full or part-time) or someone such as a spouse that can support you or some type of funds saved up that you can fall back on during that time or in case it perhaps doesn't work out. Not to mention that it takes time to build a business, as it doesn't just happen overnight.

HTH!

A lot of people have more than one source of work from home income . That way if one fails you have other jobs to fall back on.

Working from home is a great way to supplement income or make a full time income. You just have to stick with it and don't give up!

Amen Dana!

I have been working from home 12 years! Although when I first started I also worked a FT job as well I was looking to supplement and then quit my full time job. Although it took me a handful of years to find my niche I am so happy to be where I'm at!

I think just starting to work at home makes most people nervous. I know I was nervous about it.

You just need to keep a positive attitude and work at it as hard as you can.
