Yes, I had applied back in the Spring of 2009 and just around 2 week of Nov. I got a call to see if I was interested and I still was, so I went to take the exam. I passed, but the gentleman giving out the test told us that we would have to wait to expect a call to do the training and work in the Spring time of this year. It's a pretty long time. I guess the more populated your area is, the need is more and they would want to start now. I have other WAH jobs to keep me going, but I hope soon I will get the call. So, you may want to call them and find out if they are actually hiring now, as long you pass the exam.
I am keeping my fingers crossed, my area shows around $15 per hour. Some people work other jobs and do the Census on the weekends or evenings. You do have to go to houses to get your surveys done. Unless you apply for a office job with them. Good luck |

They are claiming needing close to a thousand people in the SW Michigan area..I'm scheduled to do my exam/test on Tuesday. We'll see how that goes. I'm not going door to door though. I just had surgery last week, there's no way I am gonna do that kind of walking! Not to mention, they had that meth scare down in Kentucky..Allegan county, Michigan holds HALF of the meth cases being busted from the entire state of Michigan in 2007-2009, each year being at least 50%. The funny thing is, that county has less than 60,000 people in it..You'd think something like that would be over on the Detroit side (other side of the state)..
Meth is just more popular here, or people are more careless about getting caught here. Haven't seen the underground igloo/cave meth lab like they had in Kalamazoo last year though! |

I'm thinking of doing this too. It's a really good wage for a temp job.

I received a call to see if I could go to train for a cl position in Feb. Done some work in August-Oct. The work only lasts a few months at a time but the pay is good and it is better than nothing. I hear there is a few bad place in WV too. I've been pretty lucky though, getting cl positions. Still had to travel though.

Where do you apply for these positions?

This is not a work at home job, I did the Recruiting back in Dec 2008-April 2009 in the Hudson Valley, NY area. I am starting to recruit again tomorrow, just have to go through training again (formality). The wages are excellent, you get reimbursed for mileage $0.55 per mile, and you can pretty much set your own schedule as long as you work the minimum they require.
Census takers normally work daytime and evening hours, especially on the weekends. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know and I will answer them as best as I can. Good luck to all of you! Christina |

As I mentioned before, I already went and took the exam and was advised that they probably would not start calling back to start training until around early this Spring. When is the deadline that the Census has to be completed?...The gentleman giving the exam told us it would be for several weeks. Do you have any idea when this has to be completed by?
