I am a big Craigslist "surfer". We have purchased two cars and found several job leads on Craigslist! But over the last few days when I cut and paste the ads to send to a friend or family member I am noticing a hidden message that is written in white and unable to see the words unless you cut and paste it. It is interesting, but concerns me that it could be a SCAMMER or some way that "people" are contacting each other online and maybe even planning stuff online. Read below:

Nothing particular creepy or sinister about that ... those are people just generating random text to put in the ad ... so each ad they post is not flagged for being a duplicate ...

The random text basically acts as a way to make sure each ad they are posting is unique ... allowing them to get around the fact that you cannot post the same ad over and over again ...

Yes I was getting ready to reply saying the same thing. Actually I know people who put the hidden text in their ads on cl.

I have always wondered why I seen this at the bottom of ads, and now I know.

Maybe I am wrong but if someone were offering a REAL job and not trying to get hits for keywords or trying to avoid the posting in various cities (because it's an op and not a job) rules???
